The values that guide

Your Authentic Self Therapy Services

LGBTQIA2S+ affirming

As a queer person myself, it is obviously super important to me that LGBTQIA2S+ folks feel safe in therapy with me. I have experience working transgender and non-binary folks as well as people with various sexual orientations. I also have experience working with individuals practicing ethical non-monogamy or polyamory, and those relationships and identities are also welcome in my space! I am also a sex positive and *kink positive (and aware) therapist, meaning I do not look at BDSM practices or kink as ‘abnormal’ or ‘something to be cured’, but as healthy and ‘normal’ variations of human sexual expression.

TL;DR I am LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, poly-friendly, and sex positive and kink positive therapist!

*Note for parents/guardian of adolescents, sex and sexuality will only be discussed in age appropriate ways. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask!

Social justice informed

We live in a society in which there are many overlapping systems of oppression and my therapy practice acknowledges those systems and the way they impact each and every one of us. I also believe in the importance of working to dismantle these harmful systems. Personally and professionally, I stand against, racism, sexism, heterosexism/homophobia, cisgenderism/transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, classism, sizeism/fatphobia, islamophobia, antisemitism, colorism/shadeism, colonialism, ethnocentrism, nativism, and any other harmful forms of prejudice or discrimination.

Prioritizes the self-determination of clients

There are many pieces of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics that are important to me, but one ethical standard with which I highly identify is the right of each and every client to self-determination. In other words, you as a client have choice. YOU are choosing to start the therapy process and YOU guide its direction. My ultimate goal is that you find therapeutic care that helps promote your emotional healing and growth and helps you to meet your personal therapeutic goals, but if I am not the right therapist to do that, then I will help you to find a therapist who is a better fit for you, because YOU get to decide if I am the right therapist for you. In each and every step of this process, YOU have choice.
